We’re going to make you drool with today’s Vendor Monday feature! It’s none other than Chef Christine D’Angeli of SLiCE Cake Designs. You may recognize her name from watching a Food Network Challenge or two. I saw the contest where she made a historic bridge from cereal treats. Amazing! And she won!

How/when did you get started? I have been doing pastry professionally for over 15 years. Traveling around the country working at several Four and Five diamond/star resorts and restaurants. Learning the different food cultures of each region. I started SLiCE about two years ago. I participated in a Food Network Challenge and won! Winning is what gave me the ability to start my own business.
Tell us about you business.. SLiCE is a custom cake studio, creating cakes for all types of events. Award-winning cake design and exceptional personal service. Where the cake of your dreams becomes reality.
Tell us about one of your favorite events. My favorite event is anything with a strong theme. Something different. An experience you and your guests will remember and talk about afterwards.
If you could throw the ultimate party – no budget – tell us about the theme and some key things you’d just have to include. That’s a hard question! I would love to throw the ultimate Harry Potter Themed party. I would have platform 9 3/4 at the entrance; to get into the party. I would have brooms and talking oil paintings. We would serve every flavor jelly beans and butterbeer, and create a custom drink for the party. Maybe a small wand store setup, so the guests could get their own wands. I could go on and on!
Describe the most beautiful cake you’ve ever created. Oh, it hasn’t happened yet. I love every creation a guest and I come up with. But there is always something new right around the corner waiting to be made!
What are some of your favorite cake/filling/frosting combinations? I love lemon cake with citrus cream cheese frosting, chocolate cake with peanut butter filling, devils food with chocolate and mint, carrot cake…
What are some of the current trends in wedding cakes? Currently, we are seeing different designs on each tier, bold colors, and clean lines.
Check it out: Our guests can come also find us at The Farmers Markets at Old Town on Saturdays and Ahwatukee on Sundays!
